Your own swimming hole in the high desert.
Get back from the trail, drop the pack, and jump in. Backspace builds fiberglass pools and spas in Moab that are ready to cool you down, and easy on the water while they wait for you.
A July day in Moab
Hot out there. Cool back here.
7 am
Laps before the heat. The cover rolls back with one key turn.
2 pm
It’s 103 in the shade. The kids haven’t left the water in an hour.
6 pm
Back from the slickrock, dusty and cooked. Straight in.
10 pm
A warm soak under a dark sky full of stars.
More swimming, fewer chores.
A pool should be the best spot in your yard, not another job on the list. Fiberglass stays smooth on bare feet and never needs replastering. The automatic cover keeps blow sand and leaves out, so you open it and swim instead of vacuuming. The pump hums along quietly at night while you sleep.
And you can feel good about it. That same cover cuts evaporation by about 95 percent, so a Backspace pool uses around an eighth of the water a lawn would. Swap the grass for a pool and you get more fun for less water.
How our low impact pools workWhat we do
Pools, spas, and a yard you want to be in.
A plunge pool tucked into a garden, a lap pool facing the La Sals, or a whole backyard rebuilt around the water. We design it, install it, and help you keep it swimmable.
Pool installs
Fiberglass shells from Leisure Pools and San Juan Pools, from compact plunge pools to lap-length rectangles with wide sun shelves. The cover, pump, filter, and automation come standard.

Spa installations
Hot water for cold desert nights and sore legs after a long ride. Spas stand alone or pair with a pool, and every one gets a cover and insulated lines so it stays hot.

Backyard renovations
Coping, decks, shade, paths, and planting that suits the desert, all planned around where you’ll actually swim and lounge. Trading a thirsty lawn for a pool is one of our favorite jobs.

Service and maintenance
Weekly and bi-weekly care, filter and salt cell cleaning, cover service, seasonal openings and closings, and repairs. We work on residential pools we didn’t build, too.

Builder trainings
Hands-on installation training for fiberglass dealers and crews. Site prep, the set, backfill, bonding, and the code that ties it together.

How it goes
From the first site visit to the first swim.
1
Site visit
We walk the yard with you and look at access, soil, slope, and sun. Then the fun question: how do you want to use it?
2
Design and quote
You get a layout, a shell recommendation, and a line-item quote with the cover, pump, filter, and automation included.
3
Permits and dig
We pull permits, excavate, and build the base. Soil and groundwater shape the plan, so we check them before anything else.
4
Set and backfill
The shell arrives by truck and goes in by crane. We level it, plumb it, and backfill in lifts as it fills with water.
5
Finish and startup
Coping, deck, cover, and equipment go in. We balance the water, show you how it all works, and you take the first jump.
